About Me

Hi there! I’m Chris Phan (she/her/hers), a computer scientist, policy and data analyst, and urbanist based in Washington State who spends my time contributing to Asian American advocacy and to making spaces, communities and environments equitable and livable for all, especially through the lens of technology, data and research. I currently work at Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote (APIAVote) as a fields and program associate.

I’ve previously worked at the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center as a national policy intern. There, I monitored bills that were crucial to various statewide education policies and analyzed, structured and scraped data across various sources on topics including immigration, culturally responsive healthcare, poverty rates and disaggregated data. At SEARAC, I also drafted press releases, blog posts, and key parts of reports that were released as toolkits to the public.

I’ve spent more of my time researching urbanism and global challenges in various locations, such as

In addition to my work experience, I also danced with Legacy Dance, a competitive dance team, was involved in the Asian American community at Stanford University, through Listen to the Silence and Pilipino American Student Union, and have led a service learning trip through the Alternative Break @ Stanford program on housing rights in the Bay Area.
